Cattle industry swings behind SaferGate

Saleyard Managers Forum and Special General Meeting Feb 21
Just a note to advise that the Saleyard Managers forum will be held at Ballarat on Friday February 21. This meeting will also be a special general meeting to vote on the new LSAV articles.
We also expect to have some industry speakers along on the day as well.
ABARE Sheep & Goats RIS
LSAV has submitted the following response to the ABARE RIS on sheep and goat traceability options.
Euthanasia Courses Completed
LSAV members recently successfully completed a series of animal euthanasia courses. These courses where conducted by Dr Tristan Jubb from Bendigo and covered a range of euthanasia options for saleyard staff to use when dealing with stock unfit for sale. The course included sheep and cattle options. A wide range of supporting documentation was also made available to participants and LSAV members. This course also received support from a number of animal welfare organizations.
A total of 4 courses where undertaken at Bendigo (two), Wycheproof and Horsham with 36 people receiving training. The feedback from members was very positive with many (more…)
Sheep and Goat RIS on RFID
Members are advised that at last weeks executive meeting the response to the above ABARE RIS was discussed. Based on our past position on Sheep RFID LSAV will be submitting a response that supports option 3 (Mandatory RFID with no exemptions).
The documentation for this response will be posted to members shortly.
