Saleyard Welfare Standards – 90 day public consulation

Dear livestock industry stakeholder,

A 90 day public consultation for the proposed Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Livestock at Saleyards and Depots (Saleyard Welfare Standards) as well as the associated Regulation Impact Statement (RIS) commences on 11 September 2014.

On behalf of all Australian state and territory governments, the Project Manager seeks views from interested parties about how the:

  1. proposed standards will ensure the welfare of livestock at saleyards; and
  2. associated RIS demonstrates the need for the Saleyard Welfare Standards.

Submissions on the proposed Saleyard Welfare Standards and RIS must be received by Friday 12 December 2014.
